Which is which?
I have two PCM's for a 94 Escort 1.9.
One of them is for an auto trans, the other for a manual... anyone know an easy way to tell the difference? The bozo at the dealership said he couldn't tell by the part number... that it just came up as a PCM and did not specify... maybe I just need to talk to someone else? Anyway... I figure there must be some info in the part numbers or other markings that would specify... I just don't see it. |

Re: Which is which?
post the part numbers on each...and the year
if you happen to have acciees to an auto of that year...put them both in...the manual will drive the car...but it will be stuck in 4th gear.

Re: Which is which?
I'll get them out this weekend and post the numbers here.
The car I have access to is a manual tranny... both computers were tried in it and both worked. My understanding is that one of them is wired differently for the auto trans, but I don't know if it really makes a dif which one is used in a manual trans. I'll put the numbers up this weekend

Re: Which is which?
the wiring change is in the car, the difference in the manual and auto PCM is just a bit of code that tells the trany to shift, if the car is a manual..it does not look for this signal.
