1992 K reg escort diesel 1.8 LX not starting!

Have just been given a K reg escort, and it will not start today, it started last night by being towed round the block, not really had a diesel before, it always starts once the engine is warm. All dashboard lights working ok, have tried heating up the glow plugs with four or five turns of the key and leaving it for about 30 seconds past the orange light going out, battery sounds strong and starter motor. Have been told to dip clutch when turning key. Any ideas on what to check?

I'd examine the glow plugs and wiring - I'd bet one or more are not working.

Ditto... you shouldn't have to cycle the glowplugs so many times... once should really be enough. Either they aren't working, or maybe not all of them are working. There is also a controller between the switch and the plugs, it could be outta whack.
