hypocrisy

I'm curious.

Every take a good look at their own riding style for a moment.

Do you ever?

Ride in shorts?

Ride in a T-shirt?

Ride in sneakers?

Ride in nothing but fishnets and a g-string

Speed by less than 10%?

Speed by more than 10%?

Split lanes?

Ride with one hand?

Wheelie?

Stoppie?

I'm just curious because it seems that people are happy to call a guy doing a wheelie in a T-shirt a squid yet he could be perfectly capable of doing it 98% of the time perfect.

I've done all of the above. some daily. Does that make me a squid?

If your conscience is clear of all of the above, do you?

wear full safety gear (helmet, jacket with armour, gloves, pants (not jeans or like) and full boots?

do a full safety check of your vehicle before you start up?

I surely don't do these everytime.

please respond. this is not posted as a harsh or aggrevated attack, purely in curiousness.........

Re: hypocrisy

if u do the stuff mention above and on a daily basis, then unfortunely aussie, i would have to refer u as an idiot, hehe.
here are my results:

Ride in shorts? no

Ride in a T-shirt? yes/no. i also had an icon back protector cause it was too hot to wear my leathers.

Ride in sneakers? no

Ride in nothing but fishnets and a g-string? maybe one day, hehe, j/k

Speed by less than 10%? im not sure how to answer this question.

Speed by more than 10%? no

Split lanes? yes, it's legal here in caliornia.

Ride with one hand? on occasions when im on the freeway and my left hand is tired.

Wheelie? hmm. sometime. not anymore after i got a ticket for a wheelie, but they just ticket me for speeding.

Stoppie? haven't learn that yet, not sure if i want to either... still looks awesome though.

wear full safety gear (helmet, jacket with armour, gloves, pants (not jeans or like) and full boots? don't have track boots. leather pant? this is the street, not the track, hehe, but i do wear my leathers 2pc on occasion.

do a full safety check of your vehicle before you start up? heck no.

1) No
2) No
3) No
4) No
5) Yes
6) Yes
7) No
8) Yes
9) Only short power wheelies from time to time. I'm no Star Boy.
10) No
11) Depends on your definition of squid and the situation at hand.
12) Full gear including a back protector every time I ride. I don't commute on bikes, though.
13) I have a small routine that includes tire pressures, fluids, tire life, various nuts and bolts, and the chain.

Re: hypocrisy

I appreciate the honesty of aussie's thread, but I have not done any of these.

I am far too chickenshit to ride without appropriate riding gear,
(I mustn't get an 'owie').

I am also not nearly good enough to do any of the stunts etc listed
(even though I've been riding since 1975. ):22yikes:

Re: hypocrisy

I'm not trying to trash the thread here either, but the kid in that post was a new rider according to the poster and there he is popping wheelies in a T-shirt. I don't do stunts either, but I also don't wear full protective gear every time I ride. I do always wear a helmet though and some sort of jacket, whether it be mesh or leather. I don't speed more than 10 mph over the speed limit unless I am trying to avoid imminent death, hehe. Anyway, I dig what you're saying here and I should be a little less hasty in judging people as I am not perfect. But if the kid a noob and he's popping wheelies without protection, he will end up in traction or something which qualifies him for squid status.

Re: hypocrisy

Every take a good look at their own riding style for a moment.

Do you ever? Sure

Ride in shorts? Never

Ride in a T-shirt? Used to before highside.

Ride in sneakers? Guilty.

Ride in nothing but fishnets and a g-string? Who's watching?

Speed by less than 10%? Most of the time

Speed by more than 10%? Occasinally, and got a recent speeding ticket to prove it.

Split lanes? Never

Ride with one hand? Occasionally, nothing wrong with that when you're cruising straight for miles.

Wheelie? Never intentionally.

Stoppie? Never. Wouldn't do either front of other motorists.

I've done all of the above. some daily. Does that make me a squid? Yes it does, especially if you're doing a tank spreader wearing g-strings.

If your conscience is clear of all of the above, do you?

wear full safety gear (helmet, jacket with armour, gloves, pants (not jeans or like) and full boots?

>> All except leather pants or racing boots.

do a full safety check of your vehicle before you start up?

>> Can't ride if the brakes are shot, oh yeah, I check if it starts up with one push.

Re: hypocrisy

cool responses.
very impressed.

must be that blade owners are mostly idiots.

i asked the same question on a blade forum and most came back with similar to me.

but i should clarify my own riding style

i do ride in shorts and a t-shirt to the shops in summer.

i wear full kit (dainese jacket, redmax jeans, GP gloves and bootes) when riding to work and long rides i wear full leathers.

i speed constantly at about 10% and every sunday morning coming onto a dual carriage way i wind it up to 100mph briefly.

always ride responsibly around kids and pedestrians.

never split lanes

power wheelie sometimes. no stoppies anymore.

ride on the tank when it gets hot.

ride no hands when coasting to a red light.

check bike weekly and brakes before i go out

Re: hypocrisy

shorts=never
sneakers=never
T-shirt= occasionally but no real agressive riding
ride with one hand=yes
speed=yes
split lanes=very rarely, i have done it though
wheelie= once in the blue and i don't ride it out, i just like to bang it up once in a while
stoppie=never

and i gear up in everything but riding pants, i just ride in jeans, i'm looking for a local place that sells draggin' riding jeans.

everyone jumped on the kid in the other thread cuz he's a new rider(supposedly), on a brand new bike, in almost no gear and low top sneaks, doing a stand up wheelie down a public street with his foot on the passenger pegs. he was just askin for it.
