Charging System Proplem

Ok well in the last month i have had 3 alts burn out on me i tested the battery it read 11.5V but im assuming it was low from it goin completely dead and then sitting. And the draw on it measured 4.1miliamps. So any one have any clue as to why the alternators would be burning out?

Could it be that i used a regular alt. being unsure if i had the cold climate package or not.

Thanks for the help
Matt

Re: Charging System Proplem

Do you have acess to a volt amp tester? Is the altanator voltage regulator internal or external? Do you have a sound system or alot of accories on at the same time in your vehicle if so your sound system and or accesories are killing ur altanator and the best way that i can think of to fix that is get a higher altanator output ask ur local auto parts store and tell them about ur problem. The diodes in ur altanator are getting burnt up.another possibility could be the voltage regulator is bad and burns up the altanator. good luck with ur problem hope you fix it.
