5.3L Headers?

Ive been thinking about mods for my 2001 z71 with a 5.3L vortec. I was thinking headers and wondering if anyone has installed headers on there truck by themselves. What kinda job is it. I know shorty style headers which is what i would get are just bolt on but how much of a job is it to install em. What kinda headers should i look at and how are the power gains? Not looking to spend much more than 450$.

Re: 5.3L Headers?

The bad thing about the header install is that the 99-02 had big promblem with exhaust bolts breaking in the head. So more than likely you will break them off in the head trying to take them off but good luck if you try and let us know how it turned out

Re: 5.3L Headers?

The bolts are breaking by themselves much less you trying to turn on them if you check you might even have one already broken

Re: 5.3L Headers?

Do yourself a favor and don't buy the shorties. They aren't worth the money compared to the stock exhaust manifolds. Go midlength or long tube, or keep the stockers. Trust me....been there done that.
