Unhappy Power Window Probs 96 BLazer

We will call Driver side window 1 passenger driver side window 2 front passenger window 3 and the other 4

Ok I have searched the forum and have found some threads but none that fixed the problem. First off my driver (1) side window is not working I know it sounds like the motor. It stopped working about a month ago. Now the wierd part is that it worked fine before, but my the passenger window (2) on the driver side was not working. A few days after the driver side (1) window went out the passenger window (2) started working but it has never worked since I bought the vehicle about a year ago. Of course now I have problems with the the front passenger window (3) choosing when it will and will not work. Also the front pass window (3) slows down when any other window goes down with it but it is the only one that slows down and not the other two. I have noticed that when I remove the window control panel the front pass (3) works fine and if I play with the wire i can make it stop and go while holding the button down,. Also I tried tapping the Driver Window (1) motor and could hear a clicking sound as if it was trying to run, but no go.

PLLLEEEEEAAAASSSSSSSSEEEEEEE help me !!!

i look like an idiot with all the windows rolled down except the driver window and drive though fast food is embarassing and a pain...........

Re: Power Window Probs 96 BLazer

Although mine is much older , I had this problem . and my door locks quit too . After hours of tracing thru the electrical system I had voltage to the motor from the switch but no movement . But I did not have connection from motor to ground , I did to the door but not to the body . I ran a jumper wire from the ground on the switch to the body inside the cab and now it works . The hinges on the door were not enough ground for mine . Hope this helps . Rob

Like Rob's mine needed a better ground, but the Drivers' window still didn't work sometimes. It turned out that the rivets that hold the motor into the door had pulled out. I replaced them all with bolts(make sure they're not too long as they'll break the wondow) and the window has worked great ever since without slowing down, clunking or quitting at all. Good luck, it sounds like you'll need it.

Re: Power Window Probs 96 BLazer

I feel your pain man my windows are all crappin out on me except the drivers side

My front-passenger window is bad, my rear drivers side is bad, i have a feeling my rear passenger is going bad.............

I lubed the living hell out of them to see if that would help but it doesnt. I went to the mechanic and had them take a look at it while they replaced my brake pads and half shafts. Turns out they didnt tell me anything I didnt already know but oh well

Anyone know a fair price that a mechanic might charge to replace a single power window motor?

When my windows quit working , the locks also quit . I had power to the switches and motors . But not a good ground back to the body . I ran a ground wire thru the rubber wire boot to the firewall and they worked again . Rob

When you replace your electric window motor

Check all your fuses and grounds because I have had some of these problems myself. I have a 96 S-10 2DR 4x4 Chevy Blazer. Sometimes
the windows stick on the drivers side . I checked the fuses and the ground
and found that it needed replacement. I was lucky that I had a service
station that is dependable. Also I would suggest if your in the Northeast
NJ NY and PA area EZPASS tag device for tolls. I know several people who
traveled didn't have these devices and they had problems with the electric
windows. It saves wear and tear on the drivers side electric windows.
