93 talon engine problems

ok havin a problem with the engine. when i bought the car he said that one of the vaules were bad so i took the head of and fixed the vaule and put it all back together and put new spark plugs and wires on, set the timeing right and everything, go to turn it over and it cranked a few times the made like a firing noise but didn't start so i took out the sparkplugs and seen that one of them was bent at the tip and it was the same cilinder that had the bad vaule what could be causeing the piston to hit the spark plug?

ps it has a 1.8 block and a 2.0 head. if that should make a difference.

thanks,

Derek.

Re: 93 talon engine problems

WTF, you put a head on from a completely different engine and didn't measure clearances? Shame on you! I wouldn't have admitted that to anyone. WHY????

Re: 93 talon engine problems

the reason why i put a different head on it is b/c thats how i bought the car. the 1.8 and 2.0 don't make a difference on the clearence. if it was a big deal then it would have hit all the spark plugs not jus one. and i'm not admitting anything i didn't put the engine together like that the person i bought it from did. an i already thought about getting a different block. plus whoever had the car before me messed up the wiriing it has everything for the 2.0 but the 1.8 block. so i'm stuck tryin to get this bitch runnin.

OK, the piston slapping the plug could be caused by worn rod bearings, or wrist pin. I can't think of anything else that would cause just one cylinder not to have clearance. Fly-cut the piston, or get some indexing washers for the plug. You are positive the timing is right? Sounds like you got a messed up situation. Good Luck

I'm almost 99% positive the timeing is right i too the shield off and reset the bottom two and then put the camshaft in the right alignment. but i'll try the washer thing. thanx.
