Granatelli Mass Air or Hypertech Programmer?
Im in a pickle. Lately i have been looking at the hypertech power programmer III for my 5.3L Silverado. Right now i have a K&N intake and a magnaflow catback. I wanted to do the programmer and a mass air flow sensor but hypertech just said that they tune for mostly stock engines and modifications like a air flow sensor will hurt the engine. I dont wanna be done modifying after the programmer. Any Suggestions? Anyone have a Granatelli mass air flow sensor? is it good? Power gains noticeable? Thanks,

Re: Granatelli Mass Air or Hypertech Programmer?
personally, stay away from the MAF sensor..... Also, for the most flexibility, stay away from handheld tuners. goto www.nelsonperformance.com or do a search on the forum for 'nelson tune'. Read up, give allen a call, for just about the same money, you'll get alot more out of your truck.

Re: Granatelli Mass Air or Hypertech Programmer?
I ordered the Granatelli, got it in, gave it a week to allow the pcm to adjust to it, went to the track and ran a slower time. I took it off, sent it back to summit, and told them never to sell that thing to anyone else again. This was on my 4.8L. I now have the stock maf with the screen removed and Nelson has it tuned for it. Works great and costs me $0.

Re: Granatelli Mass Air or Hypertech Programmer?
I know that with the handheld type programmers, you have to put everything back to the factory settings before having any warranty work done at the dealership right? Well how does that work with a "Nelson" type tune?

Re: Granatelli Mass Air or Hypertech Programmer?
just make sure they dont re-flash the pcm...tape over the port under the dash, or let them know about your tune. It doesn't void the warranty as far as i know
