05 Altima VS. SRT-4

alright i know this is stupid and yes i am a noobie and yes im sorry for openin a new thread about this topic but i have a question. there a guy that i wanna race. he picks up his chick from school everyday and he's got an 04 Dodge Neon SRT-4 230HP bla bla bla. the thing is loud and fast. now i gotta 2005 Nissan Altima 3.5 SE V6 250HP. his car is lighter then mine. the question is.....if i race him, what are the chances of me rippin him a new one?.... i really wanna test my baby im just wonderin if i can screw him up...

please let me know.

PS im thinking of gettin a Nismo cold air intake so thats an extra 10 to 15 HP's according to Nissan....unless they're just sayin that to make me buy it.

i know the maxima will(well, at eleast the 01-02 with the 255 hp, 6 speed) but not sure with yours, u should go into the maxima forum.

i dont think an altima of that size would EVER win against an srt -4, unless you really modded that shit beyond belief..

so just becuase its got a turbo engine that means it can screw me up. even though i got more HP. i guess weight plays a role too b/c that car is small even though its a 4 cylinder.

as much as i hate to say it the SRT can and will spank a 3.5 altima/maxima. they're typically good for low 14's and have even seen high 13's in the 1/4 mile stock, an altima is probably only good for a mid-high 14 stock.

if you dont have a auto trans..run him...i've ran srt's plenty of times in my 91 Sentra SE-R..i only lost to one srt that was modded..even tho it's a totally different car but i learned something about them...90% of the the srt-4 owners cant launch their cars for crap..and those cars suck out of boost...and have way too much wheel spin....get some B.P.U's and rip his ass open...because if he has a good launch

I'm glad that someone mentioned the drivers ability. I had a 97' Maxima SE several years ago that I leased for 3 years. I can't count how many people I toasted with the 5-spd manual. It really does come down to launch and driving ability. Look at all the variations you get in NASCAR from driver ability!

I see a lot of SRT-4 owners that look like they just fell off the school bus. I've been driving a standard since before I had a car (can you say dad's beater truck doing errands around the yard?) and I think I can launch and drive a car better than most of the SRT driver's I've seen of late. Also, I've been riding a Sport Touring bike for years running from dead stop and managing wheel slip with the clutch. No offense to them, they are great little cars, but I think mom and dad bought them their car's and they have no idea what kinda beast they have or how to drive it.

well the thing is, i have both. i have auto trans and manual shift ( + ) and ( - ). i drive with that sometimes when i take off and its fast. so if you;re sayin take a chance with the manual then i try it. i was thinkin about it anyways. we'll see. it wouldnt hurt to test the altima out.

ahhh man i love my altima's but you maynot have that much of a chance but it wont hurt to try...try it for me and let me know the results but get the C.A.I and try to get some other upgrades if you can...because even kno you have the sportronic it's still not like the manual trans...because you lost alot of h.p to the wheels with the auto trans..so you may not have a good chance but jus try it out...like me and mwebber said most srt drivers cant drive there cars..but yo if you do run him let me kno how it went

oh yea ill race an SRT4 fa sho. but as far the modding, i cant b/c its a lease. but after the lease is up, i can turn the car in early and get the 2007 Maxima. then ill play a lil with the engine.

give it a run and see how it goes. my money is on the srt for several reasons. he is making 320hp and 350torque to the ground. so if you were to do the math, that is more power than your making. you then factor in the weight, and you will see that unless he blows the launch you really dont stand a chance. DO NOT RUN HIM FROM A ROLL, YOU WONT STAND A CHANCE AT ALL!!!!!!! but give him a shot, like it was mentioned earlier, most srt4's are just kiddies, and had mommy and daddy buy them their fast neons. if it is a kid like that, $10 says he cant drive worth anything.

the srt doesnt have 320HP!!! it has 230HP. u got the numbers switched. i checked all of the models and 230 is the highest. unless he made same addiontal modding which id never be able to find out. what do u mean run him from a roll?. and also, i konw my car weighs more then the srt.

don't run him from a roll: he means dont decide to race him by cruisin next to him and then flooring it while you two are already in motion, you'll get raped. why? because he doesnt have to worry about timing a launch, he's just gonna floor it. run him from a dead stop so that he's forced to time a launch properly.
