Any thoughts on the New SS Monte Carlo

Are there any thoughts on the new Monte Carlo SS 303hp?
I am looking at buying one either late this year or next year. They look pretty slick. I have always been a Monte Carlo fan.. I had a 1979 and a 1988 SS.

Yeah, it's AWESOME. Ordered it end of Sept. - finally came in and got it Nov. 23rd... sweet car. ride is nice, tons of power.

Damn.. that was the color I was going to get!! that looks sweet.. take some pics of the interior and post them. I am glad chevy got there head on striaght with putting a V8 back under the hood.

yeah, that's the laser blue metallic... looks awesome when it's all cleaned up!

will take some pics when I get a chance... probably this weekend - supposed to be nice out again here - so hopefully will get a chance to wash her too...

did you add the Monte Carlo wording on the side? the pics you sent do not have that.

LOL - I've been getting that alot - maybe I should change that... :-)

that wording was done by me in Photoshop - just to show my username in the forums I'm in... it's not really on the car - what you see in the pics is how the car really looks...

LOL.. ok.. I kind of figured, but it looked really good. because I do not even see the SS emblem... good job on that.

00-05 was alot better. they replaced the front end and it looks ugly now, the front end looks cheap and like a malibu

I think they tried to open it up some to get more air into the intake. I personally think it looks better..
HOw do you think it compares to the old style Monte's 81-88?

I really like them. I think the new look is an improvement over the 00-05 styling (which I also liked), and having 303hp doesn't hurt either.

Agreed. The front end lacks originality...looks kind of japanese. The '98 Intimidator concept had the meanest looking front end...I can't understand why they don't make the car look powerful...it looks too plain up front. I also wonder why they have exhaust pipes that look almost as thin as spaghetti! Smarten up and open those up another 1/2- 1"...Real Monte fans would pay the extra $$ for an apporpiate exhaust. The D.O.D. V8 was probably the smartest thing they did to this car...now I hope the future plans are to make the car a bit smaller, people don't want boats anymore. Am I so wrong in thinking the Monte should be manual tranny? Lots of power but users can't exactly use it they way they want to. They don't ask the Nascar drivers to drive an automatic, why should we? The 06 SS is an improveement but I still think they should drop their outdated design team and get some new innovation going. I don't want to see radical changes, I just want to see a better depiction of what a Monte should be. the 1988 SS was such a good example. In short, it needs to be a bit smaller, up to date Tranny, better exhaust and once again be the king of the road in it's class. It could be better than the GT Mustang if Chevy made just a few tweaks. If it has the name Monte Carlo on the car...every other car in it's class should only be seen in your rearview mirror!

I agree, I wish the Monte Carlo had the manual Tranny option, but even in the old days it never did either..
I use to own a 88 Monte SS. it had a 305ci under the hood with a wopping 160hp stock. the few things it had going for it was style, posi tracktion, and better than average torque. I would love to throw in the new DOD 303hp in an older style Monte. That would rule!

Amen to that. Sweet truck dude. I bet you can hear that beast 2 blocks away! Any plans to put aftermarket rims on or do you use it on rough terrain at times?

Thank you. It's not too bad on sound.. believe it or not it is about as loud as a flowmaster (beefy sound not butt slapping sound)without the reverb cab noise that most aftermarket muffs give.
The Rims are aftermarket and I have used them off road. Everytime I go to see my parents in Colorado, I need a 4x4 just to get to their house.
