crankshaft sensor

I have read all the other threads on the crankshaft position sensor and I think this may be my problem. I have looked on the back of the engine like the directions say but I still can't find the damned thing. Do I need to get under the car?

Re: crankshaft sensor

Is it a V6 motor?
On my 1991 3.1L V6 I was able to reach it by with my arm by going below the throttle body and following the back of the engine block. If you crawl from underneath look between the front of the engine (behind the alternator) and the long right side tranny cone that powers the right front wheel.
You could also remove the alternator and reach from above, that would eat a little more of your time but I think would make it easier and less painful to both your arm and your brain!

Talking Re: crankshaft sensor

If your engine is a four cylinder the sensor will be at the back of the motor closest to the firewall, it will be in the middle of the engine near the oil pan.You just disconnecy the wiring clip and you will need vice grips to loosen the sensor
