Ordered IM Gasket Set...What else?

I just order the Fel-Pro gasket set to fix the coolant leak in my '97 Tahoe (170k miles). It has been setting P1345 for several months as well.

What else is needed that is not in the gasket set?

Reading the many P1345 posts leads me to believe I will find a worn a distributor gear. Should I do the gear and a timing chain as long as I'm this far in?

Re: Ordered IM Gasket Set...What else?

Finished up this weekend. The distributor gear was very worn, replaced and the P1345 is gone. I also replaced the lifters and the coolant quick connect hose. If I had to do it again I would opt to be VERY careful with the coolant nipple and leave it alone. Drilling and re-tapping the threads in an aluminum intake is not for the faint of heart. All went well thought and its back together. The threads for the Coolant Quick Connect are 1/2" NPT (pipe thread) Ace Hardware carries the tap.
