Just got a ticket...

I just got a ticket and it my first ticket.... and it hurts! I always drove very carefully, but today on my way to school about 11:15am this asian cop, i think his chinese and it still chinese new years(asian new years last up to 3 days) and I'm asian, he didn't even let it go, so he gave me a ticket what an ass!(this is a sign that i might get bad luck this year or it will get him lol) I was on the highway which was suppose to be 65 maximum and i was going around 75-80 mph, which is a normal thing when your on a car pool line, everyone drives like this and i never had a problem. I guess it because of the red sport cars... he was tail gating me for like 2mins then he decide to pull me over... Should i go to court and beg forgiveness? or is it not worth it? or should i pay my fee and just go to traffic school?

Re: Just got a ticket...

okay dude im 17 and i got 2 wreckless tickets so far in a nice red 3000gt sports car. lol. well dude since its ur first i would go plee in court. i did and i got it off my record and i had to go to traffic school for 3 days only 3 hours a day. no problem at all. i mean i would go since its ur first offense. The judge should be very linent to u. I think i spelt that word wrong lol. but like my second ticket i got they allowed me to pay it. so i just payed it cause i didnt want the judge that time to say well let me take it for a few months. but definetly go and plee for forgiveness. the worst that can happen is that the judge will probably give u traffic school plus community service. but its better to have it off ur record then on it. especially with the car insurance we have to pay.

Re: Just got a ticket...

No matter what the ticket is, ALWAYS try to fight it. Even if you lose, which probably won't happen seeing how theres so many factors that can swing your way i.e. officer does not show up to court date etc. I think there's a write up in the F.A.Q. on this, and if there isn't, I know that Sport Compact Car has published at least two mags with HUGE articles on this topic. Heres one article I found on google.com to start you out.

http://speedingticketcentral.com/got...ng-ticket.html

Good luck.

Re: Just got a ticket...

plead innocent,.....they will most likely plea-bargin it down to parking of a highway, a non-moving violation (still a fine, but no points or insurance hike)

at least where im from thats the norm...

Re: Just got a ticket...

oooo if they make a mistake on the ticket, your chances of getting it thrown out go way up. I'd call a lawyer and see if you have a chance.

Re: Just got a ticket...

go to the 2nd page of the FAQ and read that whole thing. I believe it was Morphius who just added it into the FAQ. It is great advice (I've been pulled over at least 15 times and have had zero tickets stick) I basically do the exact same thing as what is written in teh FAQ and it works like a charm. Plead NOT GUILTY and go to court and go for the plea bargain.

Don't even waste time on the lawyer/address mistake thing. It isn't significant enough to get it thrown out. If he said you were driving a green volkswagen...then you'd have a chance, but just because he got your old address, rather than your new one...it isn't something important enough to nullify the ticket.

Re: Just got a ticket...

tnx for the advice, while thinking, i thought about something because you know how he was tail gating me for awhile and i got scard so i step a little more gas about 5-6mph more, would that work? because your not suppose to be tailgating right?. His attitude toward me was disrespectful, he was lilke WAT, WAT, when i was talking to him and he even said "just because am a Sheriff dont think that i can pull you over" then i didn't say a word to him, i was like okay... in my head, i wasn't rule, i was being clam and patience in a nice manner.

Re: Just got a ticket...

Ever seen the new Gone In Sixty Seconds movie? Remember the asian girl who is trying to get her drivers license from the big black guy? And remember when he's going to pick up the adresses of the cars how she's standing there crying because she got one of the questions on the test wrong? Remember what the her response was? "But I thought you were supposed to go faster when someone is tailgating you." Not true. And the officers can basically talk to you however they want because you are the "lawbreaker" and they are the enforcer. Doubt you'll pass it off that way. Good luck.

well first off you kids need to understand that with these cars u are stereo typed as either a punk ass kid - a rich stuck up person - or some old person with alot of money as well... so cops always favor pullin on pickon these cars... but if you have a cop tailgating you for over 2 miles an u where goin 75-80 of course u deserve the ticket cause u didnt use your common sense to pull it down a notch...an do the speed limit.
its only a minor violation u would be wise just to pay it unless u have time to waste an can go to court for it an then get opptd. to talk to the prosocuter
sometimes they help you out.... but ya its only a speedin ticket dont get to bent out of it.. just dont let it happen again u dont wanna develope a rap sheet if you plan on driving one of these cars.... we all could tell u stories i sure....
well good luck with the ticket - keep it safe.......

Re: Just got a ticket...

OK, you actually sped up when the cop got behind you?????? What were you thinking????? you either slow down, or continue at the speed you're on, NOT speed up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
As for the ticket, 15 over is not as bad, I've gotten worse, read the FAQ, I wish I knew all that before I went through the crap I did.

Re: Just got a ticket...

go to court for EVERY speeding ticket. 15 over will cause your insurance to rise. It takes 10 minutes to go to court, cut a bargain with the prosecuter, go in front of the judge, and be out. The most time consuming part is waiting for your turn...and be there early!

Re: Just got a ticket...

Well,
usually the rule of thumb, is 10MPH or over on the speed limit, to hold up in court.
The Cop wasn't tailgating you; he was "pacing" you.
Since he was behind you, he couldn't use radar.
My 1st ticket was "engaging in a speed contest".
Was caught doing 55 in a 35 mph zone residential.
I went to court and the Judge said, "You better get a lawyer son, because racing is worse than Drunk Driving".
I got an attorney and got it reduced to Speeding and a 100.00 fine and STILL went on my record.
