Intake mounting

1997 4.3 V6 Blazer LT
I recently bought this cold air intake off of ebay and installed it. It came with these brackets or mounts or whatever they are and I cannot figure out how to hook them up so that it supports the intake, anyone know how?

Re: Intake mounting

From previous posts I have read on this site and others it seems yo need to bend the mounting bracket in order to get it to fit properly. I would
contact
the
eBay
seller to confirm this first though. Good luck. Nice pics!

Re: Intake mounting

Thats one of the problems, the seller has not responded to at least 10 e-mails so I don't think contacting the seller is ever going to happen. Ive looked through the threads but couldn't find anything that explained in detail as to how you should mount it. Once you bend it I still don't know where to stick the L shaped mount or the other one, do you hook one up to a certain part of the cone filter?

Re: Intake mounting

I found a picture of the bracket but I cant see how it connects to the cone filter. All I really need to know is the proper way to connect it to the cone filter.

Re: Intake mounting

I have almost that same intake for my 99 Blazer. I couldnt figure out how to use those bracets either. I just put the intake on there without them and have driven for around 1,500 miles with no problems yet. I just made sure to make the clamps real tight. The intake doesnt seem to bounce or move around much at all w/o them.

Re: Intake mounting

I bought the EXACT same kit of ebay. I got very clever with mine. Coming from Where the Elbow peice meets the MAF sensor, The rubber tubing that contects on the filter side. I stuck on old alen wrench between the 2 pipe clams. What i did was got the long brace and at the end of it i made 90 degree bend. I used that side to sandwich the alen wrench between the rubber. Once i did that i just bolted to a stud what was right there. Mine filer kinda of rubs at the bottom and the tubing rubs my Brake fluid res. But you gotta get a lil creative. Hope this helps if not may be my cardomain site may help. it ur still stuck let me know i'll try to take a pic for u to see what ive done. its kinda hard to explain http://www.cardomain.com/ride/783126

Re: Intake mounting

From the pics in your car domain I could not see what you did. Did you bend the side where you bolted the long brace on? It sounds like a good way to do it, if you could put more pics up that would be awesome. Thanks for the help, and by the way, what tint did you get on the front windows of your blazer and how much was it?

Re: Intake mounting

hey guys

I have the same truck, Just curious how much does something like that cost on ebay, and what would be the advantage of putting one of those cold air intakes on my 97 LS that has a 120K.

thanks
Jkdon

Re: Intake mounting

Well it cost me $41 with shipping. I thinks its well worth the money because it has made my gas mileage slightly better, increased power, and I like how it sounds. Its also very easy to do(except for the annoying bracket). I definately recommend it.

Which CAI system did you buy. And, what type of cone filter did it come with?

Re: Intake mounting

Yea sorry it was preety vauge. Ok.. right now i can't get any pics cuz haha long story short beer and dig camera don't work together (college) ahha so. I'm sure u can see where the brace goes towards the rubber part, So That ruber conector. Is what i'm talking about. What i did was losen the clamps on both ends. And i slid a alen wrench,( you could use any type of ridged thin, stright metal) And slid one side under the once clam and the other end under the other one, haha i was board and tried to paint you a pic hopfully this will help Just got back to my car domain sight. there will be a new pic in my CAI install part for you to see. I hope that will help you enough If not this weekend when i go to the parking garage i'll snap some with my phone last resort.

Also after about 300 bux i found a place that did a tint job i was happy with, the tint on now is the the closest 30% tint to factory tint. From the out side its a perfect match. Inside there is a diffence. But not many people will notice A place by philly called "Good Vibrations" did it for me It cost me 70 bux for the front 2 windows

Let me know how that works out for you man, Good luck

jkdon- Mine shipped was right around 40 bux also

billibong- I just ebayed mine found the cheapest CAI, It came w/ everything i needed, The cone was a really cheap "K&N" Cone rip off. But my buddy was tossin his AEM CAI for his honda out So i grab his filter and put it on

Re: Intake mounting

If you know who manufactured the cold air intake, I'm sure they have a website
you could go on. Look for the contact us or company info, and send them an e-mail. Tell them what type of vehicle you have and ask them if they have any directions or suggestions.

Re: Intake mounting

Sorry I don't rember the person i bought the CAI from on ebay. But there were a few ppl who offred a wide range of car specific CAI's. But when i bought mine there wasn't to much info on it, Real simple listing on ebay. I knew what i was looking for and what i was gonna get so it wasn't a big deal for me, but if ur looking for info on ur purchase u may wanna look in to a K&N system, When my buddy got his for a dakota R/T it came with plenty of toilet reading stuff

Re: Intake mounting

Yes, Mine did come predrilled for the One small sensor between the MAF and the Throttle body I guess the Air temp sensor may be. I have to though drill that predilled hole a lil bit because it was a really tight squezze and 10 secs i wasted to drill out a lil bigger was worth the agravation of braking the sensor. But My OEM intake didn't have a PVC intake on it SO the new CAI didn't have a hole for it. So if u have one i guess ud have to drill that one.
