89 Cold start problem

I bought an 89 Cherokee and after a lot of work it ran great with no leaks. Ran great all summer and fall without a problem.

Since the cold came around (Southern California so not vary cold) it sometimes won't start first thing, although will crank no problem.
If I remember to pump the pedal twice and hold the pedal half way down it will start no problem, If I forget it won’t start.
Then it won’t start for 30 min to an hour, but then it will run fine.
It acts like its flooded, but no gas smell, and of course since there’s no carburetor so that can't be right can it?

Anybody have a similar problem with a correction?

Re: 89 Cold start problem

Try turning key on and waiting about 15-30 seconds, then try starting, if it starts you may have a fuel pump going or a fuel pressure regulator, going bad

Re: 89 Cold start problem

Thanks, I already tried that. I also checked the pressure at the fuel rail, and it seems OK, Checked CPS with an OHM meter, Replaced Fuel filter.
I read a thread about IAC motor (Idle Air Controller) I think I will check that when I get a chance, assuming I have one.
