Re: Insurance?...

a) Depends on A/S/L... no, really.

b) Depends on A/S/L... I'm being serious.

Not to mention that the kind of bike plays a HUGE factor in cost.

Re: Insurance?...

18/M/PA. I tried getting qoutes, but they were all if you already had the bike and liscense. If I just bought a cheapy begginer bike, whats an estimate of how much? I might just ask B2Kmax what he pays if I get a chance to PM him. What do you pay?

Re: Insurance?...

I would buy a 250 or 500cc bike... and buy it outright so you only need liability. Otherwise, at your age and being a male, you are going to have to fork out some serious cash. I'm in PA, but I'm 23, Female, and I took the MSF Safety Course (discount), and on my bike I pay less than $200 a year.

like tangie said, liability is the only insurance that you must have and it's the most expensive. i have full coverage on my bike because i'm financing it, so i pay $1300 a year, the breakdown of my policy shows that about half of that is for liability so it's about $650 for me and i'm 22 years old, male, live in NY and i also took MSF.

Liability is the cheapest and most basic form of insurance available. I have liability on my R6 and I pay $15/mo. I don't ride on the street much or I would have full coverage.

Re: Insurance?...

Collison for me is most expensive, regardless of deduction, $800 at least.

Re: Insurance?...

I pay $61/month ($732/year) for full coverage on my cbr954rr through Country Insurance. They have decent rates, but in order to insure a m/c you have to put your car on the policy. http://www.countryfinancial.com
Hope this helps!

Re: Insurance?...

You can get a free quote from geico or progressive online. You just fill it out as if you own the bike (own and make payments or own and do not make payments or lease are the options on progressive) Just choose what it would be if you owned the bike. They'll give you a rate quote and email it to you as well. There's no comittment to buy. I've been shopping for a new bike and have gotten at least two dozen rate quotes from each geico and progressive just to check general rates in the past month or two

Re: Insurance?...

WOW. its expensive to live in the United States of the Bush.

down here (all in Aussie dollars but i'll give comparisons) i pay $800 a year for full coverage including leathers/helmet for my 03 954 and its insured for an agreed value of $15000 which is what i paid for it brand new.

we normally pay 25-50% more than you guys on goods. exchange rate is 75Au-100US. brand new litre bikes on the road are $18k-$20k and the average wage per week is around $500 in the hand (i'm on $1000)

so i bought my bike for 15 weeks pay and i pay less than 1 week worth to insure it
