98 Intrepid intermittent problem with headlights

This has been going on for some time now headlights will turn on and off while driving. Recently they turned off and they did not come back on I turned the light switch to off and headlights came on. I turned it back on they went off. What is going on?

Re: 98 Intrepid intermittent problem with headlights

from what you describe sounds like a bad headlight switch.

I replaced the dimmer switch from a salvage yard for $40. This took care of the problem. The dealer wanted $120 wow.

Hello I have a 99 intrepid. I changed the headlight switch (new), the highbeam stalk(junk yard) cleaned grounds changed relays, checked fuses. traced all of the wiring the car would let me trace. Does the High beam stalk Have the same bad resistance problem you talked about in the car fire on a different posting? I'm guessing I need to keep checking the wires and buy a new stock. Any info is appreciated.
