I've recently bought a 02 corolla, and have found that when I start the car at night the headlights are energized by the sensor (normal) but there is a 12 second delay before the insturment panel lights and the light on the shifter light up. I wouldn't think this is normal! Any ideas on why or how to fix

Re: insturment panel light delay
Normal..........
You have "Daytime Running Lights" The 12 sec delay is the sensor (waking-up) and turning on your other lights as well as your dash lights.........

This maybe the normal but I think it stinks! I have a Pontiac and its Headlights and the dash lights default to the on position at night or in a dimly lit area when started. Then when the sensor (wakes-up) they turn off the dash lights and head lights if they are not needed.
