Question Need to find fuel pump safety switch, 2000 Explorer

I need to locate the fuel pump safety switch location in a 2000 Explorer 2 WD, 2 door vehicle. Vehicle rolled over 4 times, and now will not start. I don't have the operators manual to track it down. I want to start it before I buy it to see it that it is still good. Engine compartment is intact with no visible damage, the engine turns over without any problem. I have been able look in the rear on both sides as all side panels have broken away. I will have to break open the door to gain access to the passengers area if it is determined this is where I should look. The body it trashed, but engine and trans should still be usable.

My 98 explorer has it located inside the passengers side of the truck on the firewall.

Re: Need to find fuel pump safety switch, 2000 Explorer

DR98, thanks for posting. I went back to it today and stood on my head, forced the kick panel out if the way, lifted the carpet, and with my flashlight located it. It would not reset, so I got the tools and took it off the wall. Just as I laid it on the floor, I felt the weight shift, and thought why not, I tried and it started right up. I just hope that it will do the same when I try to drive it on the trailer this weekend. It sounds great, and will certainly give new life to my little '98 model 180,498 mile truck.

I had to stand on my head in there as that side is so distorted that it isn't going to come open without much persuading with the right tools.
