Its like cheating on an ethics test...

So, as some of you may know (actually, the only person I told was Max, so never mind), I just got another speeding ticket. I nice little bullshit 35 in a 20, not school zone. Its gonna cost me 70 bucks, and its not a big deal, just annoying as hell as the cop pulled me and some other guy over, the other guy as doing 33 and got a warning. I mean, whats the big fucking deal with two mph? I also have a clean record in MO. Anyways, onto the story.

Like I said, its a 70 dollar ticket, and compared to my other tickets, thats not shit. But I really dont wanna pay it. I mean, its just annoying as hell. So I'm trying to figure out ways to get outa this, when low and behold, the idiocy of college freshman trying to impress my bud's girlfriend strikes hard, and I have my ticket paid off easy.

The kid drives a stock, like, not even CAI or exhaust, auto Sentra, non Spec V...not even SE-R. His only mod is neon underbodies. I mean, this is fucking gold. Like, God is giving me the money for the ticket...

Anyways, hes trying to talk this chick up, not realizing that shes one of my good freind's girlfriends, and they are pretty serious, and hes talking shit about his street racing exploits and his banging Sentra. I'm listenin' in, and after about 15 minutes of hearing about his 200mph highway rolls, I jump in, and see if he wants to run for cash. Tell him that I'm thinking 100 bucks, highway run from 55-60. He jumps all over it, and asks what I'm running, and I tell him that I got the 325 with a CAI. He bites, and hard, and says its on.

So yesterday, admist a light drizzle, we hop on the highway to pull off the run. I'm jammin to a bit of Chris Lawrence (satalite radio=the shit), so I'm in the mood to drive fast regardless. He lines up next to me, and rolls down his window to ask how we're gonna do this. I tell him to go on the third honk, and he agrees. I'm sitting at 55 in second, which is just about redline, and I honk us down. Third honk I let him punch it and get a bit of a jump. I wait till he's about a half car or so up from me, then punch it, and pretty quickly kill his pull. By 65 I'm passing him, 70 I'm pulling away and hard. I take it up to 115 (don't wanna go to fast on wet roads), and hit the flashers and let off with him about 4 lengths or more behind. Didn't really check. We head back to campus, and he refuses to pay up becuase I "lied" to him.

He said I had to have more than just a CAI to pull like that, so I poped the hood and showed him my ultimate sexy CF CAI (Elchico has seen it, it cleans up the engine bay REAL nice and sounds pretty good too, I just need to clean the filter by now), and hes on the verge of tears. He hands over the hundred bucks, and I just smile like an ass and tell him anytime he wants to give up some cash to call me.

I also broke traction last night on the way out to Columbia (guys night out, my and some boys went to Hooters then to see Underworld 2...SEE IT...KATE BECKINSALE GETS NAKEY!). We had to slow down, and the road was wet, so when I went to punch it, I dropped down to second, and the rear end slid out a little. So I can now say without lying I've broken traction from a 35mph roll...

I still wouldnt pay the ticket.

Like two issues of sport compact car mag their was a very good write up on how to beat a ticket. I would type it out but I just really don’t feel like it right now. What I will say though is select the "trial by declaration" on the ticket and mail it in.

Fight the ticket anyways. Nice kill. It's like stealing candy from a baby.

How would I go about fighting it...I mean, I'd love to keep 100 bucks in my pocket.

What does the back of your ticket say? It should outline your options. If you scan it, I'll try to help you understand your options.

Good kill. In the rain my car has lack of traction in 1st through 3rd. That's what happens when you don't have AWD.

-edit-Just checked the cities website and the back of the ticket, my only options are A)Guilty and pay or B)Plead not guilty and fight it. Elchico, I tired that technique with my first ticket (45 in a 35), and still had to pay for the ticket (Judge still found my guilty. Most of the time it comes down to your word vs theirs. Justice is blind my ass...). So I might just pay the stupid thing and call it a day, unless you got some other advice clawhammer.

Re: Its like cheating on an ethics test...

Lol a local dsm buddy of mine has to roll race at least starting at 70, anything less than that and he loses traction (FWD). I guess that's what a T67 will do to ya....

I told him I'll only race him if we set our rev limiters to 5k, haha, he barely has any boosy there.....
