Howdy,
My Passenger side Power Window is open about 2 " as I left it. Now when I try to close it, nothing. The D side windows works fine. Neither D or P side switches work so it may not be fuse. I have a Hayes manual, not much help, and owners manual, about the same. The both mention that it is controlled by some sort of a Control Module and should be dealer serviced. So, my question is: Which module and where? I notice that under the hood in the Power Control Panel, there are several Relays and Modules that look the same. I am assuming I could switch them around to see which is failing? I have tried reseating all the fuses, relays and modules, but to no avail. It is a cold day in Canada to be driving around with my window open, could some one please give me technical details on how to troubleshoot or which module to swap-out? I am an electronic technician and am not afraid to get involved with the wiring. Regards, Wyatt. |

I think you are saying the drivers window and switch are good. The wires go from the door through the jamb and into the car covered in a rubber like tube. I would move it back and forth while operating the window switch. That area gets a lot of wear and tear from the drivers door opening closing and it is possible a wire has broken. |

Please allow me to clarify. The drivers window works, the passenger window does not, with either passenger switch. I suspect window motor or the body control module. Is the body control module in with the fuses under the drivers side dash? Are there more than one body control module that I can swap aound? Cheers, Wyatt. |

Do the headlights dim when you press either button to work the window?

Howdy and thanks for all the positive feedback.
The drawing is excellent for troubleshooting the door wiring. This is what I need to narrow this problem down. And thanks for the feedback on the BCM. So, there must be a fuse and or relay somewhere if the BCM is not involved. It is not shown in the drawing... I tried the dimming lights by toggling the switch'<s> and the passenger P/W switch does not cause to dim. The drivers p/w switch does. So, that would mean that the motor is not binding or under load, or no voltage going to motor. The light in the switch is illuminated so there is some power there, but I can see that the light <LED> is controlled by the BCM, the rest is not!? Time to pull the skin off and see what is going on inside the door. The quest continues...! arrg. |

I had a reply to a posted message from "Brandon Crone" from another forum: http://www.dodgeforum.com/forumid_30/tt.htm
I banged on the door panel in the center while pressing the switch, as he suggested, and it worked! Now I will take the door skin off on a nicer day and find the faulty wire or motor... Regards to all from Collingwood, Canada. Wyatt. |

Re: 99 Caravan P-side P/W kapute
Had the same problem with a '98 Caravan and tried the door slam/kick thing. Worked for a couple of months but ended up getting a new motor for the window (passenger). Hope yours lasts longer. MW

When you take apart any of the electrical connectors be sure to clean them up real good and apply a small amout of dielectric grease to the terminals to help prevent corrosion.Maybe you have a worn brush in the motor?

Howdy,
Now I only need to carry a tool kit containing just different weight hammers for which to choose from when it comes to working on the Caravan. Smash boom bash, P.O.S... ![]() Wyatt. |
