I've driven a 2000 Lincoln LS last two years, two months ago, it the digital
radio letters began to either dim out or disapeared completely... placing some finger pressure near the cassette eject button, sometime succeeded to make the digital letters show up again, at time it remained on, but by itself it went out again, leaving blank (dark ) the monitor... Any Idea how I could fix this up... instead of getting a newer radio! Aren't those original stainless steel mufflers supposed to last longer than any conventional other units.... one of mine shows a 2" crack, dealer told me one side has to be completely changed at the cost of $1,250 (Can.) is there a better solution to it, is it possible to only replace the muffler unit it self rather than changing the whole right side system! Thank you for your help, Benoit. |

Re: Radio digital letters dim on & off...
For your radio issue, it sounds like you have a bad solder joint internal to the radio. I had a similar issue in my Taurus SHO, broken solder joint which caused the button illumination to stop working. I've heard of others having similar issues caused by broken solder joints in Ford company radios. I suggest you find someone who repairs electronics (either professionally or as a hobbyist) and have them inspect the boards for broken solder joints and stressed vias.
