Engine and trans Identification
I have a question that maybe some of you seasoned toyota folks may have an answer for.
I have an 81 pick up, 4 cyl. engine. Where is the stamping on the block that would give me the year it was manufactured? I think but am unsure that it may have been swapped. Also is there a stamping on the trans or a tag that I should look for? Its a 4spd and is going to need a throw out bearing and I want to make sure I have the right one. Thanks Creeper

Re: Engine and trans Identification
There are stampings on the block, but it's in code. A dealer should be able to decode it for you. The TO bearing is pretty standard for all years. I even think it's the same 2WD/4WD.
