Re: idles rough in gear
sounds like the IAC might be bad or incorrectly adjusted.
Try this, turn on the AC, place in gear and turn the steering wheel, does the RPM's drop significantly? - a sign of a bad IAC. |

Re: idles rough in gear
You can check the IAC, just get out a chilton book. My does the same thing. vibrates only when in gear, and at a stop. I think it has more to do with motor mounts myself. I think the rubber is wearing out, and causing more vibrations. My IAC was just fine. to check motor mounts you can look at them, and also have somone look at the engine and see if it rocks or torques excessively when you start the vehicle, or when you put it into gear. Let me know what happens.

Re: idles rough in gear
I have fought this problem for almost a year. I replaced every sensor possible on the car. I replaced all plug wires, dist cap, rotor, and everything else you can think of only to have the problem continue and it was worse in cold weather. Well I finally decided to replace the coil even though it checked out ok. That was the problem. Now my 93 JGC Laredo starts immediately and runs better than it has for years. Maybe I can get another 235K miles out of it. Tip of the day: REPLACE THE COIL.

Guys, thank you very much for the tip, I replaced the IAC and my Jeep Grand Cherokee 1993 runs as the first day. Another finding: - whne replacing the IAC ,You should disconnect the battery, for few minutes, give it half an hours,
then change the IAC, plug battery back in, set to ignition, don't crank yet give it one or two minutes for computer to adjust (calibrate) the new IAC. Then Crank, I would take RPM to 1500, set the Drive Gear, pass it to neutral. it will jump down to 800-900 and voila! |
