Question Stereo system in Neons.

Has anyone installed wiring themselves to a stereo amp back to the trunk. I'm also running RCA cables from the stereo. If so, how did you run the wires to hide them in the neons? Would like any tip from anyone.

I have a 96 neon and my sister in law is giving me the system out of her car. Her car died and she said its all mine. I havent seen it yet but she told me its a Pioneer stereo with subs with the box and the amp. the 6x9's also. I bought a amp kit for up to 225 watts power. I ran the cables back under the molding along the floor to the door and through the back seat into the trunk. I had to Dremmel out some plastic to keep it from crimping the wires. One question i do have is should i run the power cable on one side of the car and the RCA's down the other? If they are together will i get quality interference? I already have a ground loop isolator which works fine, it takes out all the humming from the alternator.
Im not sure what the power in watts the amp is i am picking up the system on the 3rd of FEB. What if the amp is 400 watts, and i have the 225 watt wiring system. Can i get away with that for a while. I will let you know more this weekend when i inspect the equipment.
I would love to know how you have your set up. Tips are great. Crutchfeild.com is a pretty good sight for help for me.
If i have 2 subs, i was thinking about wiring the left 6x9 in series with the left sub and the same for the right side also. that is if the amp is at least 250 watts. Is this a good idea or not?

Re: Stereo system in Neons.

hey again ill put pics of the sytem and info later. . but it is prolly best just to send your rca s to the other side of the car to prevent unwanted sounds. also to run in series a sub and 6x9 will cause a little headache cause of the low wattage and the fact that you are trying to push treb in a sub which is not what it is built for. you could go out and pic up a bass treble splitter that will send bass to your subs only and treb to your 6x9. this will have you lose out on the bass created by your 6x9. my suggestion is to run 6x9 normally and yoursubs on your 400. as for you 225 you will only get as much power as your weakest link in the setup. soo you have 225 watts. tommorow i will put up a diagram and pics of my setup which has taken close to 1 year to perfect and finish soo i will at to this later ok. hope that helps for right now alright. have fun.

Re: Stereo system in Neons.

I ran the wires under the doorsills, under the back seat and into the trunk. I got the AMP mounted on the back of the backseat

Yep its all wired up and sounds great. The problem i am having now is that the kenwood cd player skips alot. and it is not playing the cds that i burn on my pc. not very well anyway, it played 2 songs on time and now it wont play any cd R or RW's just the original cds. would a cd player cleaner work or not?
