Speaker question?

I searched with no results. I have a 1996 GMC Sierra extended cab with NO rear doors. Is it possible to fit 6x9 speakers in the rear panels? Or only 4x6? If anyone has sucessfully done this please let me know how you went about it. Thank you very much!

Re: Speaker question?

Do you mean in the place where the stock rear speakers go?

If so, there is a cut-out there for the 4x6. To install larger speakers you'll have to enlarge the cut-out in the sheet metal.

Re: Speaker question?

Yes I do mean in the stock location. I havent looked under the panel so I dont know how much room there is but is there enough room for 6x9 speakers. Thanks for the reply!

Re: Speaker question?

Be very carefull when removing the panels; they tend to get brittle and crack when you pop the clips. I put Infinity Kappa plates in 1995 XC since I didn't want to go through all of the work and be disappointed. Alpine head unit and amp, Infinity Kappa components in the doors. It was a bit pricey, but the sound is absolutely incredible.
