Re: 97 grand am se performance help!
Welcome at AF!
First it would be quite helpful if you posted the engine size you have. Regardless the easiest way would be to increase air flow like installing headers and a cold air intake. If money is limited then go with the cold air intake first. Both are not very expensive and will give you a lot more performance for the buck than most other mods. |

Re: 97 grand am se performance help!
hey, i would start off with an intake.. possibly a cold air intake. if your lookin to spend about $200 you could get new drive pulleys they give you some more power. you could also look at an exhaust. If you have alot of money i woould go intake, headers and then exhaust.. good luck

the skys the limit, when you got the money.
Their is a link on the GA thread: OEM, Performance parts, it has a few links with all sorts of goodies! http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=502706 But ya, the Cai and exhaust would giv you the most bang for the buck. Good Hunting

Re: 97 grand am se performance help!
First take a look at your OEM air intake.
A lot of oem air intakes systems are already cold air intake systems. Does it already draw intake air from grill or fender well. If so you already have a cold air intake. Sometimes a add on cold air intake helps and sometimes not. And remember a cold air air intake is going to take a lot more maintenance to keep it going right. And sometimes you have to do other stuff. One thing to consider would be a chip or reprogram for your computer. Sometimes they can help.
