92 bravada runs rough ses code 45

my wifes 92 started running rough today and set a hard 45 code. tach was bouncing a bout 100rpm at all speeds and idle and i could smell it running rich.

whats the code 45 mean?

Trouble Code 45 is O2 Sensor sensing rich condition. I guess you need to open the intake plenum and see which side has a fuel puddle. Driver's side would be the fuel lines and the passenger side would be a bad CPI regulator.

the problem went away on its own when i went out later and started it up. seems to run fine now.

the only thing i can think of is a solid misfire on one cylinder pumped raw fuel thru the exhaust. the prob occured in the am after 3 inchs of snow had melted off it. that pm after the sun came out the prob went away. gonna do plugs, wires, etc anyway. the CPI and fuel lines are new, less than 10k on it

No misfire codes till 95/96 obd11.

ooppss, spoke to soon. wife said it ran bad and stalled on the way to church today. same conditions, wet and cold. then this pm she went shopping and everything was fine.

going to start with the basics, a tuneup kit. any advise on wires and plugs? i usualy just go with Delco.

I made up some Accel spiral cores for the '92...I figure they'll last 20 years past Social Security, then it really won't matter.
Be extra careful around #5 sparkplug...drivers side next to the firewall. It's right next to a knock sensor and the plastic connector is so fragile it will break if you touch it.
I access the spark plugs through the rubber flap of the inner fenders behind the front tires...straight shot at most of them with a 12" wobble extension.

yeah, when eyeballing things i noticed that problem area. knock sensor, huh, wondered what that was. also noticed a couple of wires running close to the exhaust manifold with some plastic looms over them that look collapsed on the passenger side front. any recomedations there? and do you have to pull the wheels to get thru the the flaps or can i just lift the front and turn the tires enough to get by?

I made them just long enough to let'um hang out to the frame and not touch anything hot. I also use the correct AC plugs.
I was able to turn the front tires enough to access the plugs...of course I was all over the tires and got some dirty but I had no problems with the wires or plugs with the motor cold.
