Hard starting when HOT problem again 92 rodeo
Hey All:
I yet again have the hard start when HOT problem again. As a previous condition that I thought I might have caused when I changed the cap and rotor. I removed those, which looked really bad and put the old set back on. I also changed out the PCV valve because of oil on the air cleaner cover. The same issue occured. One thing interesting is that when I removed the air cleaner cover to see if the injectors where leaking, the engine started right up, like there was nothing wrong. OK, that means staved for air. It would not be the IAC because it would not let air in, if the cover was on or off. The only thing I can think of is that valve on the blower may not be cold air in which is controlled by the IAT, I believe. Any comments, anyone! -paul

Re: Hard starting when HOT problem again 92 rodeo
I think I actually got it this time.
During the last time I had this problem, I lifted the cover off the air cleaner just to see if the injectors where leaking. I went to start the engine, and it started right up, like there was nothing wrong. Thinking about that over the weekend I tried to think what if anything would be blocking the air from coming in. I came up with two or three things. 1. The outside air intake mechanism (flap) is not working correctly. 2. Air intake temperature sensor not functioning correctly. 3. Idle Air Control valve is bad. I took a look at some diagrams in my book and noticed that the IAC has its own air pipe. Kind of funny because I have never noticed this before when looking at the throttle body. The next day I removed the air cleaner cover an located the air tube. It was pretty dark in there so I put my pinky finger down there and pulled up a bunch up OIL. YUCK! The pinetal is full of oil. So tomorrow I will clean it out with some carb cleaner. From there I will look at the air intake mech. I have loosened the snorkel that leads away from the air cleaner and if this happens again, I'll note its position. -paul
