2003 Accent loud squealing when turning
Hello. My sister has a 2003 Accent, and when you turn the wheel in either direction, it squeals something fierce. I tried listening to it the best I could and it sounds like its coming from the tensioner, but I'm unsure. Just wondering if somebody has any ideas? I just can't seem to pinpoint the source of the noise. For sure somewhere amongst the belts, but I'm pretty sure its not the power steering pump. But again, I just don't know. Any thoughts and ideas on this would be a great help.

are you sitting still when it happens? if so maybe it is your power seerting pump going out of fluid. It will whine really bad if you just turn the wheel, then when you start off it will decreease as you pick up speed. if thats not it maybe something is rubbing against the trans-axle? did you recently hit something?

Re: 2003 Accent loud squealing when turning
I have a 2000 Accient and I've just noticed when I'm on the highway that when I even slightly turn the wheel I'm starting to hear a difference in "road noise". Sounds mechanical and I'm wondering if my bearing are starting to go. Car only has 88000kms on it (about 55000 miles).

Re: 2003 Accent loud squealing when turning
about the road noise, my car did the same thing after i put my new tires on, i thought it was because they were unbalanced, but in fact my lugs hhad come loos somewhat. When i turned the wheel i would get a slight vibration in the wheel. tightened them up and it went away. Its worth a shot?
