Coating your trunk?

Someone a while ago had the idea to coat their trunk (I guess the area around the spare) with stuff like a truck bed has. Anyone seen this? Did it work? I was thinking of doing the same thing.

I used a spray on undercoating found at Canadian Tire for $4......I did it just to stop some rattles with my stereo....I made a fiberglass box thats moulded into the wheel well....so this cushons is a bit better,....I am satisfied.

I did the same thing as slammedcivicsi. The only thing you have to make sure of is that you prep the area well (the paint in your spare tire well). Otherwise the stuff will just flake off over time - like mine did .

It does work well for dampening sound though.

I dropped the rear crossmember 6 mo ago, and when the guy fixed it he put some undercoating in the trunk..... it was GOOOOOOEY!!! (Supposed to keep the moisture from getting in and rusting, but you can't ever, ever use the trunk cause it doesn't ever dry)
I wiped it out using a lot of paper towells, and then wiped it down with thinners. I used the spray on Truck Bed Liner from CT, and it does look good, but it doesn't adhere too well to the trunk bed. This may be because of the fact I have a lot of that silly yellow glue smeared around the trunk too, but the stuff seemed very susceptible to chips and gouges, even in the clean areas, so you may need 2 coats, or a clear over it. (I know it sounds funny, clear over bed liner) I didn't like using the Undercoating. It didn't dry too well either, and it was a real pain to clean off when I decided to redo the trunk.:flash:

It should work, just make sure you do a good idea of prepping it. We did it with my old '73 MGB GT. I will try to get a pic for you guys, because it looks sweet and is coated really nicely.
