Hi shifty,

looks very good, nice details with the shocks !!!!!!!

Btw, as I intend to build the Tamiya beetle this way: isnīt there a windscreen or a mesh? Wouldnīt it be dangerous for the driver??

Just a remark: maybe next time you could tread the tires with some steel-wool to take away their shine

You know,I only sanded the front tread.
I was in such a hurry to meet my contest deadline.
I spaced it.
Now that the everything is dry I am gonna go back and try it.
Never thought of steel wool-thanks!

My first effort at coil over shocks.LOL!
Widescreen or mesh? The window nets? first time doing that too. It's actually very close to what the diest window nets in my 1:1 pre runner were back in 1990.5 point harnesses wrap around beard seats.Pretty tough to get hurt in one of these.
Thanks for the good tips.
This is my 4th build of this kind and it was a rush job.LOL!

Steel-wool is great for the tire-sidewalls, but use sandpaper for the tread.

No, I didnīt mean the net at the drivers door.

I thought about the front. If your bug was 1:1 and it would drive behind another car, it could be dangerous for the driver to be hit by stones, so for "security"-reason instead of the windscreen there could be a mesh, too.

Oh,
That is why the windsheild hole is smaller with upper and lower visors.
Because of extreme dust in the desert and silt beds, windsheilds are kinda useless because they get dusty inside and out and create alot of glare. Some people do use windscreens though.
You always wear a full face helmet and nowadays everybody uses a filtered fresh air helmet system like a Parker Pumper.
It's definitely unlike most racing that's for sure.

Wonderful stuff!
Just wish I get closer to this build to see how you did everything
It's totally captured my imagination and admiration - thanks for sharing and I want to know what you are doing next so I can look out for it

Amazing build

I'd be tempted to dirty it up a bit; I'm not used to seeing something like this so clean and sanitary
