security issue

95 v6 camaro and the security light comes on and the car won't start. Has anyone had this problem? if so and fixed it can you help me? Please let me know what parts I need and how to do it. I don't have alot of money and this is my only car. I had to walk to work cause the dang thang wouldn't start. Thanks

i know on my 92 camaro, by where you pop the hood by that latch, there is alittle chip thing, and if it is not in all the way the will not start. It is in a bad place to cuz i almost hit it with my knee and if you break or lose that, i don't know what you do. So check down there and see if you have one of thoes.

To elaborate, it sounds as if your VATS (vehicle anti theft system) is not picking up the right resistance off the key your using (the little black 'chip' on it).
