How fast can a (mostly)stock 1997-2003 GP GT/GTP without the speed limiter ?

I never went past 105 MPH with my Grand Prix, I am aware that there is a limiter at 108 MPH. I am just curious to see can stock GPs do 140 MPH after limiter is removed.

I think aerodynamics would stop you well short of 140mph (not to mention the "pucker factor" at that speed). You could figure out the theoretical speed limit by taking into account red line rpm, tire diameter and gear ratio, but this wouldn't adjust for aerodynamic drag.

What is the diagnostiic mode on dual climate? I have dual climate....was wondering what you mean

i'm pretty sure my gtp will do about 140... not sure about anything passed that, but sinse it's limited, i can't tell you for a fact...

I would suspect that it wouldnt matter if the car was a gt or gtp at that high of speed......would be a gear, tire and rpm deal at that point. I have always wondered this myself....I suspected about 135 would be tops...based on wind resistance.....who knows

I would be cool to kick some rice burner ass when they roll up or your jock.....you can stomp them till 106mph....then they are bye bye...laughing at you......had one do it the other day.....lol

you push and hold both of the buttons on the climate control for like 5 seconds and the screen will change to 00 i believe.. and one knob turns to 20 some numbers and the other knob lets you look at that number.. its kinda confusing to explain maybe bob can chime in on this.. one of the numbers is the speedo read out which helps if you dont have a HUD.. wierd since my 98 has dual climate and no HUD but my 02 has analog dual climate and the HUD.. there is a website that shows what each number does.. apparently only 8 of them actually show anything.

mmm, pretty sure ive done 127mph till it shut off ('97 gtp). ive never messed w/ any of the limiters or anything.

I should note that i do have hud which is what displayed 127 since the speedo goes to 110-115??

I've got a 98 GTP, all stock and I've had mine up to 120 on the highway without hitting the limiter, I'll have to try to hit the limiter and get back to ya!!

the limiter on a gtp kicks in at 123 on a gt it kicks in at 108. i have a gt with a dhp pcm and it stops gaining at about 128.

I guess they put different limiters on the cars cause my 98 stops at around 106 or so.....still pullling hard too

I've had my 04' CompG up to 134 before and I think it has a little more. I barely had any mods on my car at that time.
