Remote start on a 1997 DX Hatchback manual

Hey guys, I have a 1997 DX Hatchback stick shift and I just purchased a Viper 791 XV alarm wich includes remote start.

Now, call me stupid but I had no idea it was illegal to put remote start on a stick shift car. (which makes alot of sense now that it was brought to my attention) However I am fully aware that as long as I leave my car on neutral with the e brake on (which I ALWAYS do) I wouldnt have a problem with the car going off or anything.

Any place that I've gone too they will not install the Remote start on the car but they will do everything else. Now my question is, how difficult is it to put the remote start in my car? Is there any chance that I might be able to add this myself?

Re: Remote start on a 1997 DX Hatchback manual

when I got my alarm installed two weeks ago, the guy tried to sell me a remote start... I told him that my car was a standard trans. but he said just to keep it in neutral... if your in so cal I can give you the number for the place and maybe they will put it in for you?

Thanks but i actually convinced one of the guys at a local shop and he told me they'll do it but I won't get a receipt just to cover their asses. so if anythign happens with the remote start i cant take it to them or anything because it'll be like they never put it on.

Re: Remote start on a 1997 DX Hatchback manual

its not that hard. i put mine in myself. it took me about 4hrs to do.. splice/tap approx a dozen wires. my kit was simple, so the # of wires depends on wut u get.. just make sure to do ure research for wiring diagrams.. theres also instructional vidz out there. mine came with one.. but its just to give u an idea of wut u hafta do.. as for the clutch bypass.. theres a couple of posts that show u how to do it..
