Re: How Do I program my 1993 Jimmy remote

Different keyless entry systems are used on General Motors vehicles. The parts are not interchangeable even though the parts may appear to be similar. Observe the back of the transmitter in order to properly identify the system. On 1998 S/T pickups and utilities, use a transmitter identified with GM/UTA preceding the part number.

1.With the driver door closed, hold down the power unlock button on the door panel.
2.Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
3.Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
4.Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
5.Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
6.Release the power unlock button on the door panel. The remote control door lock receiver will respond in the following manner in order to indicate that the receiver is in the programming mode:

Locking the doors
Unlocking the doors

Important

All extra transmitters must be programmed at this time. When a new transmitter is programmed, it will deactivate the old transmitters.

7.Hold down the lock and unlock buttons on the transmitter until the remote control door lock receiver will respond in the following manner:

Locking the doors.
Unlocking the doors.

8.Repeat step 7 for each additional transmitter.

9.Turn the ignition switch to the ON position in order to exit the transmitter-programming mode.

In order to reprogram the remote control door lock transmitter with a scan tool, refer to Scan Tool instructions.

Re: How Do I program my 1993 Jimmy remote

I dont think those instructions match, since its for a much older remote & vehicle.

These should be correct for a 93 Blazer/Jimmy:

Drop the lower driver side kick panel, you will see a red connector not connected to anything. (The black box you find is the actuall keyless entry unit) In the red connector you will see 2 pins.. Use something (such as a pair of needlenose pliers or paperclip) to connect the pins together. (This must be done with the door closed) The locks will cycle and you will be in programming mode. (maintain the connection on the pins) Press and hold the unlock button on the remote till the locks cycle again. Your remote is now programmed..

Re: How Do I program my 1993 Jimmy remote

Onblsht has a good method, however, there is an alternate method for programming your remotes for a 1993 Jimmy - I just finished programming a remote I picked up off of EBay in about two minutes:

1. Locate the Diagnostic Link Connector, DLC, under the driver’s side of the dash. This is the connector that an OBD scanner would be plugged into. You should not need to remove any panels to access it - it is in plain sight.

2. Locate pin connector “G”, which is the lower left socket of the DLC. You need to connect this socket to a suitable ground in order to enter "programming mode". I used a chunk of doorbell wire since it has a thin, solid conductor. You could easily use a bent paperclip (to fit inside the connector) connected to any scrap of wire long enough to reach a ground.

3. Find a suitable ground. Essentially, any exposed (i.e. unpainted) metal could be a suitable ground. I used the doorpin, since part of it was clean and shiny bare metal. You may be able to find an easily accessible screw or bolt which connects to the frame.

4. Using your wire, jumper connector "G" to a ground. The doors and hatch will lock then unlock if you did this correctly. Ensure that you keep the wire connected, since you are only in programming mode while this jumper is connected!

5. Press any button on your remote transmitter one time. The doors and hatch will lock then unlock to confirm that it has programmed successfully. Press a button on your next remote to program it as well. The doors and hatch will lock then unlock to confirm that it has programmed successfully.

6. Disconnect the jumper and the vehicle will exit programming mode.

Cheers!
