Someone help me before I explode!

Ok so I bought a 2000 GLS, with Leather and all the upgrades, 5 speed manual tran. From the 1st week I bought this car the check engine light has been coming on. In hindsight, I know the dealership knew this light was coming on, however my guess is the reset the system because it takes about 3 days everytime I reset mine for it to come back on. Scammers! Anyhow, about a month ago I was driving home from a trip and my Oil Pressure light comes on, "STOP", "TURN ENGINE OFF" and I totally freak out! I could not beleive it I was 4 hours from home and now this crap?!?!
So I sat on the side of the road for about 30 minutes thinking about what to do. Cell phone was out of range and I was out of luck. Finally I decided to restart the car and see if I could hear anything wrong, so I started it and the light NEVER came back on. Two weeks later, the light comes on only after I shift to 2nd gear and I pass 3k on the RPM. So I take it in, $425 later they tell me it wasn't sludge, it wasn't the oil, or the filter, the pressure test came back perfect I think 20psi? Anyhow, they changed the Oil pressure sensor just as a precautionary (right, I know that was the only problem but they insisted it wasn't) and magically the light doesn't come on anymore. Now my car is starting to tick louder and louder as of late, AND I went from getting 400 miles per gas tank to 330, DON'T KNOW WHY?!?!

Anyhow, does anyone have any thoughts or answers for me as to why the knocking, why the engine light for 2 years, and WHY the gas milage drop now. Could it be my injectors? I give up, THE WORST car I have ever owned!!!! I have done brakes twice, and many other things. I just turned 83K on the milage. Worst thing, I financed it 5 years and I am already backwards and overpaid from the beginning. Please help!

Re: Someone help me before I explode!

Are there any codes to read from the computer?? I guess it could be spark-knocking but it's hard to tell on VW's until you just take it to the dealer. We just traded our 99 Passat because one thing after the next was going wrong. It started to make a knock after we just serviced it so we just freakin traded it. It was quite a headache owning that car, especially since our local dealer couldn't get the car in for service for at least 2 weeks every time we had a problem.

Re: Someone help me before I explode!

if you are not using a 068-115-561b oil filter your oil pressure will not be correct and engine can sludge. the normal oil filter aftermarket places use is the 06A-115-561b oil filter that was originally used untill early 05 when vw found out about oil pressure probs. the 06A is also used for golfs, jettas ect with 2.0 and 1.8t engines. the 068 that is supposed to be on your car is a HUGE filter, actually looks like a filter that would be on a truck or something (filter is under the coolant resivour)

also its a very common problem for breather lines to crack on 1.8t passats. there is the pipe that you can check yourself with a flashlight. It goes from the intake pipe(coming off air box on a circle valve) and goes above the exhaust to the back of the engine in a black metal pipe. then it goes under the intake manifold to the engine block. This pipe ,if cracked, causes oil sludging. look for wet dirty residue on any of the pipe from the intake to the engine block. its about 5-600.00 in parts to replace all the pipes with clamps plus labor. (its actually a tsb, dealer can print off all the parts needed)
