OK. Normally, I drive my way after when the gas light comes on...a bit risky but I figure it runs on fumes (I always fill the tank and then drive 'til the gas is done). When I refill, the nozzle goes on auto until it reaches 13.2 gallons. Even when I continue to manually pump gas it barely takes anymore...nowhere near 14.2...and I'm fearful of it overfilling....

Guess I'll continue to pump and see what happens...can I cause any damage???

i've done 13.9 gallons max and the needle was bottomed out i think, a good 1/2" under the final line

feasibly you could go another few gallons after the light comes on, but i usually just push it to 300-330 miles or so, somewhat aggressively

Re: Gas tank capacity

On my trip to California last spring my buddy and I drove with the gas light on for like 130 miles (we were doing about 90mph). When we filled up we put in about 15.8 gallons. That was risky...but it still had a drop or 2 left. The most in town I have put in is like 14.6. I dont think our tanks are designed well because there seams to be a lot of gas it cant get too if our cars say they need gas when there is like 3.5 gallons left. Maybe the factory just set the warning light a little cautious.
