Any good oil additives recommended?

I'm wondering what some of Y'all recommend on oil additives (or any at all!) when doing an oil change. In the past, I' ve used Marvel Mystery, Slick 50, Lucas, and STP. I used Duralube for a long time, but can't find it anymore. Is there anything NOT recommended also? Thanks again,

Oy....
....the absolute best thing you can do for your motor is to change the oil every 3,000 miles using the correct viscosity oil for the engine/climate conditions and use a quality oil filter. All those "witches brews" out there will not improve and sometimes hurt the insides of your motor. You are not going to be able to fix or cure a run down motor by pouring in a can of additive. Save your pennies.....

I've only used STP to precoat some parts when I rebuilt my air-cooled VW engine. I used Marvel Mystery oil during the initial start up of that engine....but that's been it.

marval does some pretty neat stuff, we un locked a rusted up monte carlo moter with it once, ran for 4 years then totaled it out, but as sector said, no oil additive will fix a dying bottum or top end, if you have something as a rod knocking the best you can do is put 10w40 in it and drive it nice untill the inevitable happens, no oil additive or gas additive is reccomended except dry gas once or twice if you live in the snow belt, and injector cleaner once or twice a year ( i lean for once)

i use Seafoam for a lot of cleaning purposes. I run a half can in my oil every 3 oil changes RIGHT before i change it, 500ish miles. the other half always goes in the gas tank to clean up the injectors. about once a year i use half to 3/4 of a can into the brake booster vacuum line with the engine running to do as much cleaning of the intake as it can. the stuff eats carbon and all fuel related gunk like candy. as for the 'stop smoke' additives and stuff like that it just adds a varnish to the cylinder walls that burns off after a bit. they work maybe 1 or 2 times out of 10 but never for long. running a thicker oil doesnt seem like a fix for anything to me. high pressure doesnt mean its flowing like it should. no oil = bad which is common knowledge. the only thing thicker oil seems to do is linger longer.

Note that the previous two gentlemen used an additive for a specific purpose; freeing a stuck engine, helping to keep clean the oil pan screen, etc.

These additives used in this manner can be a good thing since they are not left in the oil. Another example would be using a can of crankcase flush prior to your oil change. If you're trying to attack a specific minor problem, say a sticking lifter, the use of an oil additive can help and possibly cure the problem. I have used CD2 oil additive to try and quiet a sticky lifter on a 30 year old Pontiac.... the problem went away and the use of the additive was no longer needed.

You want the BEST additive that helps clean and lubricate as well as enhanced anti foamers and detergents use 1/2 quart of ATF fluid in your v6 or 1/4 quart in your 4 cylinder.

It WILL NOT harm sensors OR seals and gaskets.
It is the ONLY additive i use in my engines, period.

who said that? the GM/Ford/Dodge/ETC dealer or the oil company? if its fully synthetic 10k wouldnt scare me nearly as much and that would apply to every car. if its one of the big boys i wouldnt trust any of their fluid service recommendations as far as i could throw my owners manual.

No way in hell would I let a engine go 10k without a oil change!Factories don't even claim this.I use 1/2 quart of Lucas per oil change only cause it claims to condition seals and what not.

like hell you wouldnt, i beleve it was a toyota, cellica if i remember correctly, we did a long block, came with oil in it, and huge red letters said an oil change b4 7500 miles voids all warrenty on the moter, so 10k isn't that much more of a stretch from that, not every oil change, but maby the first one, even though i am a fan on rebuilds of 500 checkup, 500 just because, then 3k from there out
