Wink Porsche 964 "Polizei"

Next projekt of mine!
Some time ago, i bought Fujimiīs 964 Carrera 2, even though i never liked this one. I only wanted to copy the wheels for some VW tuning
I considered what i should do with this one and the only idea i liked, was to convert this one to a Police-car.

First thing to do, of course was grey and white primer.

I sanded out the molded door handles. Some parts of Revellīs 964 will replace them.
I took TS-7 "Racing white" first, then masking and TS-35 "Park green", which is in fact a bit too bright for German Police-cars.

After some clear coat, i put on decals from Tamiyaīs Polizei-Beetle.

Well, what can i say? This car wonīt be brand new, i like it to be slightly used. This Porsche will have spend quite a few kilometers on the Autobahn, chasing some speed sinners (vocabulary help is always appreciated )

After building it "clean", i took some brown oil paint, brushed it all over, let it dry a few minutes and wiped over it. In this way the oil paint gets stuck only in the holes and gaps. At last i took some Revell Enamel colours (47,83,314,381) and dry-brushed it.

Now the body needs a finishing clear coat and Iīll start the interior.

Thanks for looking!

Re: Porsche 964 "Polizei"

Cool idea! I always like when I'm in Germany seeing Porsche and BMW Police cars. The body looks good in those colors, and the underside looks very nicely weathered. Got a light bar for the top? Looking forward to seeing what it looks like done!

Re: Porsche 964 "Polizei"

Hey there DasWiesel, that's a cool looking cop car you're building, when I saw this it reminded me of a BMW 85Oi that I made into a german cop car many years ago, if it's alright with you I'll post some pics of it tomorrow if the weather is ok.

Re: Porsche 964 "Polizei"

Cool looking and already very well underway!

Do polizei in Germany have anything else on their cars then the green badging with the matching letters?

Oh and hey, isn't there unlimited speed on most parts of the autobahn?

Re: Porsche 964 "Polizei"

Thanks!

@MPWR
Yes, i do have two types of light-bars, a modern, quite big one and an older with a single blue light. Havenīt decided yet which to use. In my opinion it should be a smaller one which is a bit wind-slippery.

@GPZ
No, i wouldnīt mind at all. But isnīt your BMW worth an own thread?

@Oli
Usually they have some kind of call sign on the roof for their city and unit. Maybe i should add them as i still have to give it a clear coat.
Unlimited speed?-Well, it depends on your point of view If you have a speedy car, there are always too many speed limits.

Re: Porsche 964 "Polizei"

Cool conversion! I think I'd consider being a polizei if I could drive that everyday. Also, really nice chassis weathering!

Re: Porsche 964 "Polizei"

Hi Julian,

nice job so far, nice weathered chassis !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My wife was working years ago at the Autobahn-Polizei in Karlsruhe. For a certain time they had a Porsche (however civil-car, not green/white). Well this car war driven while the Mercedes were left in the garage ;-)

Re: Porsche 964 "Polizei"

Nice project. Wasnīt Fujimi offering some 356 as a Polizei-car. Did anyone of you see that kit yet??

Weathering of the undertray is very cool. Do you whether they actually used this type of Porsche as a Polzeiauto? I always thought they only used Turbos. Wasnīt that the last one given to the Polizei of Baden-Würtemberg. I wonder, if they use those.

Itīs always nice to meet some fellow Germans on the board. Letīs donīt get started on the speed limit issue.

Good luck with the project, Iīll be following this one for sure!

Re: Porsche 964 "Polizei"

Yikes! I'd be sad if I saw that pull up behind me, lights flashing. That's going to be a very eye catching and different Porsche. Great work, man!

Nice one, keep it coming. The green is indeed a bit light, but who cares? It looks good.

Well, some parts have speed limits, but most of the Autobahn is unlimited. But we don't have streetlights for our Autobahn

Re: Porsche 964 "Polizei"

Thanks again!

Ok, Oli persuaded me to add some more Inscriptions . I´ve searched a bit and found a very interesting site:
http://www.polizeiautos.de/
You´ll find Police-cars from all over the world here.
And of course i did also find some Porsche:
http://www.polizeiautos.de/index_db....bwfustwpor-neu

@godfather
This page will answer your question, too. I lived in Stuttgart for four years and never saw one of these in life. Well, in fact i never searched for them. But i know these cars were always a present from Porsche to the city of Stuttgart and they were never Turbos BTW: Where are you from?

@Merkava
I´m really sorry! If you were a Polizist somewhere around Stuttgart, you would have to put up with this temporary solution.

Lately there is another Polizei-Porsche:
http://www.tune-it-safe.de/index.php?section=1,3,1
But don´t be too disappointed, it´s only some kind of advertisement for a collaboration between public institutions and the tuning industry. So it is not an official car for daily use.

Back to topic! Based on the information i got, i printed some decals for the missing "Fliegersichtkennung" on the roof.

First one is printed on white decal film(does anyone like to give me an OKI ) for the front hood, i will try to cut them out. Second one is on clear decal for the roof.
I took a special font for this: "DIN 1451 Mittelschrift". ´The same were used for licence plate once. If anyone needs it, just ask

Re: Porsche 964 "Polizei"

hey
great new project!
seems as you are replicating the original 100.000nd 911 Porsche made the Stuttgarter Autobahnpolizei for present... or was it the 1.000.000?
don't remember....
i found a pic a 993, seems as you have chosen the right way going to use the old style lightbar:

Re: Porsche 964 "Polizei"

@Andy
It will be something in between. They only had a 930 and a 993, but no 964. Anyway this is only a fun build.

Finally i have some Progress:

The black numbers on the roof worked out well, but the white ones were a real pain. The white decal film didnīt help a lot. My first try broke apart into several pieces and the second didnīt react very well with decal softer.
Only way was to hand brush these two and cover with dozens of clear coats.

While waiting for them to dry i started the interior:

The door boards fujimi supplies in their kit were not more than a bad joke to me, so i replaced them with some parts of Revellīs 964. Epoxy putty helped to make them fit. Doesnīt look that bad after priming.

Yes, i know - sh** brown . Actually the flash makes it a bit brighter as it is. Youīll find this color in many older Police cars, donīt ask me why. Now it needs some detailing.
I decided to drill the gauges to let them look deeper when finished.
