How to change shocks and struts on 1995 GSX

There's a knocking noise that's coming from my left rear tire. It only happens over bumps. Basically, it sounds like the strut mount. I was thinking if I'm going to replace that, might as well do the whole thing. Anyone have a guide or good website that explains the steps and indicates the tools you need.

thanks

just shocks no sturts. could be your spring. You will need a ratchet and sockets but an impact wrench works better. A spring compressor, and replacement parts

I bet your shock/strut/whatever you want to call it is blown. I've never heard of a spring clunking. Go buy yourself a Haynes/Chiltons manual, it will tell you everything you need to do. You have a DSM, so you can bet on something else breaking that you'll have to fix .

thanks for the info. so I've got most of the tools except for the spring compressor. apparently autozone rents those but will it work for my car. also, how hard is it use them.

very straight foward, all you have to do basically is tighten a nut. and Thor, for the record I had a spring clunk on my moms camry lol, well really it was a bad mount but close enough

Get a breaker bar just incase. Especially on a 95. IT is the best tool I have in my tool box when it comes to taking of old bolts. There are simply some places an impact gun can't reach.

I know what you mean. I just did a lower ball joint on my tsi today, talk about being a bitch. But if I didnt do it my wheel would have probably fallen off within the next 10 miles, no joke
