Hello group,
I had my battery give out this week and the gages were bouncing around allot because of it. I changed the battery and all was fine. My wife took our 2001 Caravan out later that night and the speedometer needle is now below the stop! When the van is off the needle of the speedometer is at the 7 o'clock position, when I start the van the needle comes up and sits below the stop. At this point I have no idea what speed I'm doing and must drive my son to camp. Would anyone know if there is a fix other then pulling the spedo apart and try to get the needle over the stop? I can't see how the speedo needle could get over the stop in the first place. If I do have to try and force the needle over the stop, how would I access the needle to try it? Hope someone has a fix for me as I'm running out of time before having too head out on the highway to camp. Thanks for reading Arnie [email protected]

Re: Need help with speedometer problem
1. Ignition switch off , depress and hold the odometer reset button until "SOF" and the version show then release button and this will start dash calibration and when it is done it will either spill error codes or say end . This should put the needle where it belongs. Let us know how you make out.

I resoldered the instrument connector solder joints and the dash now works fine but the speedometer reads 10 mph when the Van is stopped. It goes to 0 when I turn off the key. As far as I can tell it is a constant 10 mph fast. Actually not a bad problem for my teenage drivers. Thanks Rick |
