Re: TCC problem
It is possible the solenoid has a problem, but with my 98 it was time for a complete rebuild when I got that code. I had @ 180,000 miles. The trans worked fine as long as I let the fluid warm up a little before putting it in drive, but had a loud howl coming out of it most of the time. I was pressed for time and didn't have another car running to drive to work, so I took it to a shop I trusted to rebuild it instead of doing it myself. They allow their customers to watch while they do the tear down so you can see what condition it is in and know that they aren't trying to rip you off. Got a 3 year/ 30,000 mile warranty and a tranny that is probably better than new for a little over $2,000. To me it was worth it. Just letting you know how bad it can be. You can find a rebuilt and put it in yourself for a lot less, just depends on your skills, tools and time. A tranny shop will probably charge a minimum of $400 to check if it is just the solenoid.
