Leveling Kit for 2000?

Does anyone know of a kit to level the front end of my 2000 4x4 Z71? I have seen plenty for 2wd chevy's but none for 4wd? Not sure if it is even possible..I have already ruled out adjusting torsion bars, too many horror stories and just had alignment done anyway..thanks

Re: Leveling Kit for 2000?

Yes, leveling kits are available for 4wd. (I recommend getting Ford keys instead of a "leveling kit"- much cheaper). They're basically re-indexed torsion bar keys. They allow a greater amount of adjustment than the stock keys. They level your truck by raising the front end via the torsion bars. Not much different than adjusting or "cranking" your torsion bars. That's what "leveling" is. Since raising or lowering the front of your truck can change the geometry of the suspension you should always get the alignment checked. If I were you, I'd try adjusting your stock torsion keys a bit to see if you can get it where you like it. You can always let it back down. Once you get it where you want it, either by adjusting the stock set-up or with a "leveling kit", do yourself a favor and have the alignment checked. Horror stories? Not unless you get carried away with it and go way too far.

Or you could try lowering the ass-end of your truck if "level" is a big thing. Drop it, slam it, whatever they call, however they do it. Personally not for me. I don't want my truck to look something Snoop Dogg would drive.

Re: Leveling Kit for 2000?

I've heard cranking up the torsion bars on a 2500 does make them rougher. On my 1500 however, it was not any rougher riding and I think actually improved the handling.
