95 Tracker

I have a 95 Geo 4WD that has been running great until recently. At 62000 miles it has aquired a stutter when you start to move. It goes away quickly, but happens at traffic lights and stop signs. It lasts no more than a couple of seconds. Twice it has acted like it wasn't getting any fuel, but that disappeared in about 30 seconds. Any ideas?

Re: 95 Tracker

Tune up was done at 42000 just before I aquired the car. Was my Mom's and she got it new in 1995. I've had the car for about 2 years and use it as a health inpsector doing a lot of city driving. I'm also a volunteer firefighter and it is the smallest rescue vehicle in the county.

Question Re: 95 Tracker

I've been doing some more reading. 6 months ago, I had a strange noise coming from the engine at all speeds. I looked under the hood and on the back of the engine, on the passenger side was what looked like a valve of some sort hanging by two bolts that had partially backed out. I tightened up the bolts and and the noise went away. Is this the EGR valve and could this now be part of my problem.

I am also having EGR problems with my 95 Tracker.

The hose from the EGR to the vacuum modulator keeps popping off from excessive pressure.

Dont know whats up

Re: 95 Tracker

yes that is the EGR valve and it does have a tendancy to lose the screws over time. i would suggest taking it off and making sure the gasket is good if not replace it and use some loctite on the bolts so they dont back out anymore. also depending on the engine mine is a 16valve i have to replace the spark plugs every 10k or about that because of the way it was made it really heats them up and will do that to me when i dont replace them. also if the hose keeps popping off you might want to test it when it is cool just push on the diaphram if it moves it should still be ok if not then it needs replaced. sorry i melded them both together but got the point across
