I can't get my change oil soon light to reset

I changed my oil tonight in my 02 silverado 4.8l and tried to reset the light. turn key on hit gas to floor 3 times(or more)in 5 seconds and the COS light will flash 5 times then go out. shut key off then start engine, battery light goes out then change oil light soon flashes 5 times then goes out(doesn't usually do that). I thought it might have something to do with swapping my stereo out so I plugged the old one back in and same results. any ideas I might be able to hook up the tech2 at work friday. I am using Castrol 10w30 high milage if it matters.

Mine turns out to be a bitch most times, so I really don't have an answer for you. The last time I got mine to go out, i turned the key on, pressed the gas pedal til the COS light flashed, turned the truck off, and walked away. Came back and no more troubles.

Re: I can't get my change oil soon light to reset

I just changed the oil in mine on the weekend and the book says to put the ignition to the run position and press the gas pedal to the floor 3 times within 5 seconds and i did that and nothing happened so within that same 5 seconds i pressed it 2 more times which made a total of 5 times in five seconds , then it flashed and was reset. Screwey kind of system if you ask me, it goes against everything you were taught and told about fuel injected vehicles and not touching the gas pedal before you start it, never mind having the key in the run position.
