The idle is preset at the factory. You can remove the plug to get at the adjusting screw but usually you should only do that it you can't reprogram the PCM to compensate for a cam.

Is your idle too high or too low?

EDIT: Custom chip programming can also adjust idle and idle in drive.

Re: Idle Question

what the deal is is that the drive idle is way to low. once the truck warms up, the idle drops below 1000 and just barely above 500. So when you drive from a stop it seems like the motor is about to shut off. it starts shakin.. I had the truck serviced and tuned up at goodyear, it ran fine for about a day and then everything went to crap when the truck goes to 45-50 at normal idle within 1500-2000 the truck starts feelin like someone pulls up behind u and starts pushin u and lettin out simutaniously. The check engine light comes on and I really don't what goodyear did to get their money but they said that they did everything right.. ???? I thought about changing plug wires or o2 sensor or somthing. it just ain't drivin right

Re: Idle Question

The idle air control valve does everything with the idle, unless you have a vacuum leak.
