Cobalt Stalls

I Have The 4 Door Cobalt Automatic Transmission And I'll Be Driving Alone And It Will Randomly Stall On Me.... No Pattern In The Stalls Just Randomly Shut Off Causing Me To Have To Put It In Neutral And Start It Back Up... Ive Taken It In 2 Times Before For The Same Problem And They Tell Me When They Drive It Its Fine... Well Obviously Its Not... So Anyone Have The Same Problem Or Know Of A Resolution?? Thanks!

Re: Cobalt Stalls

Do you have a large set of keys on your key ring? This can pull down on the ignition key ever so slightly and shut the car off. Yes it's stupid but it's very common with the Cobalt.

Also, if you have a heavy set of keys, turn your car on in your driveway and leave it in P. Then open the steering wheel adjustment, bring the wheel all the way up, then thunk it down with a bit of force as far down as it will go.(you dont have to smash it down so it breaks something, just a bit of force will do.) This should shut the car off. No take all your keys off your ignition key and try it again, the car should stay on.

Re: Cobalt Stalls

Smokey. You may have electrical problems which it seems that several of us Cobalt owners have. Do you have an 06 or 05? I have an 05, owned it for one year, and have continual electrical problems beginning with the radio and now the car won't start for the 4th time. BTW-look on www.nhtsa.dot.gov for further pep's comments about Cobalts. Good luck. Bob
