1993 Cavalier Trunk Problems

I have a problem with the trunk of my 1993 cavalier (2 door, Manual ). I can stick the key into the trunk but the key wont turn and thus my trunk won't open. As far as i know there is not latch inside the car to pop the trunk nor does the seat fold down so i cant even get into my trunk. If anyone knows what i can do to fix this it would help a lot...... since i have several school books stuck in a trunk that i cannot get too

Thanks

Re: 1993 Cavalier Trunk Problems

You should have a foldown rear seat that you can get your stuff out through in the mean time. As far as the lock, could very well just be stuck since it did open before. Best bet is to stick some WD-40 on your key and stick it in and out a few times. Repeat a few times. Let it sit a few minutes and give it another try with the opening.

Re: 1993 Cavalier Trunk Problems

Only RS and Z24 models used a fold down rear seat,so if its a VL you cannot fold the seat down. You would need to unbolt it.
I think the key in the trunk malfunction is quite normal,as it has happened to me many times, but then it goes away as fast as it happened.Thankfully I added a remote release so if one fails, the other usually works. You might want to buy the cable, the remote lever, and the long small metric bolt thats needed to convert to remote release...its the best small investment you could ever make.Should have been 100% factory standard, but not on base VLs unfortunately.....
