98 jeep grand cherokee stay started/alarms?
My probem right now is that the jeep will start and run for 1 or 2 seconds then stop....and as soon as the key is turned to start....the alarm starts going off. Here's how it all started:
After my jeep had been sitting without being started for a couple weeks over christmas break....I went to get into it by using the remote to unlock the doors and opened the passenger front door. The alarm went off so I went around to the driver side to get in and start it but the driver side door wasn't unlocked. At that time the only thing I ended up being able to do to get the alarm to turn off after trying to use the remote and the doors was to unplug the battery. Since then I have tried many things with it. I found out that the key sensor inside the driver side door had been broken, so I've replaced that then turned the key in it a couple times (but the door wasn't closed when I did it). That didn't fix my problem either. When working on things....I noticed that the plastic guard around the wiring going through my passenger door had been shredded and a few of the wires exposed and 2 of them even severed. I covered all the metal, but didn't reconnect the wires that had severed (they seem to be for the power window since that doesn't work). Another wierd thing is that when ever I use the power locks on the driver side door, it will lock and unlock only that door. When I use the power locks on the passenger side door, it locks and unlocks everything except the driver side door. I have unhooked the wires going to both doors and it still won't work. I'm about to take the thing into the dealer (which means towing it 30 miles or so). Any suggestions?
